General Description
"The 18th Street Residential Historic District is located primarily along 18th Street, between 3rd Avenue (a few of the buildings are located on 3rd) and Arlington Avenue, in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. The district almost exclusively consists of one- and two-story single-family residences. The district is sited on a slight plateau with a northern view of the Santa Monica Mountains. Streets follow a rectilinear grid pattern. Lots are generally modest and consistent in size, and properties have uniform setbacks with lawns fronted by concrete walkways. Most retain concrete driveways with curb cuts and detached rear garages. Most residences were designed in the Craftsman style; one residence is American Foursquare in style, and one is a Mid-Century Modern-style apartment building. Typical features include gabled roofs with wide eaves and dormers, partial or full-width porches, and clapboard siding. Of the 20 total properties, 17 are contributors to the historic district."
