General Description
"The La Fayette Road Historic District is located in the Mid-City neighborhood of Los Angeles. It abuts the City-designated Lafayette Square Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ), which is directly to the east. All properties within the district are located on La Fayette Road between Venice Boulevard to the north and culminating in a cul-de-sac to the south, near St. Charles Place. One- and two-story duplexes and fourplexes, as well as a handful of single-family residences comprise the district. The topography of the district is sloped, as La Fayette Road slightly rises in elevation southwards from its intersection with Venice Boulevard. The district is characterized by tightly-spaced lots, narrow setbacks, and a relatively narrow street. Dwellings are fronted by concrete walkways and grassy parkways. Many of the buildings have driveways with curb cuts leading to detached rear garages.Architectural styles represented in the district include Tudor Revival, Spanish Colonial Revival, and American Colonial Revival. Common architectural features include stucco cladding and arched window and door openings. Of the 35 total properties, 32 are contributors to the district's historic significance."
