    Significance Statement
Long-time location of the Yu Acupuncture Clinic, operated by the Yu family (Moses and Mei Mei Yu) since 1977. The Yu family has been associated with the field of acupuncture for some twenty generations. In 1971, Moses Yu pioneered an early acupuncture clinic in a walk-up Chinatown apartment; however, his clinic was shut down and he was arrested for practicing without a license. Yu continued to practice out of people's homes throughout Southern California until 1976, when then-Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation legalizing a licensing procedure for acupuncture. Yu opened the Beverly Boulevard clinic the following year. The Yu family has continued to operate its clinic at this location since 1977. The Yu family's association with this site is less than 50 years old and not of exceptional importance; therefore not eligible for listing in the National Register.
