    Significance Statement
    This single-family residence is associated with Frederick S. Cary, an important figure during the pre-consolidation period of Wilmington. Cary was a banker, a land and building developer, and a local politician. He was also an early and active supporter of consolidation, because he realized that Wilmington would not be able to develop the harbor on its own.
