    Significance Statement
"Excellent example of an early synagogue in the area, serving the area's Jewish population in the pre-World War II era; and an excellent example of a 1950s African American church, reflecting the community's move westward after World War II. The building was built and occupied by the Agudath Achim Anshe Sfard, a Jewish congregation originally founded in 1908 at 21st Street and Central Avenue. The Agudath Achim congregation occupied the building until 1957 when Metropolitan AME Zion, a prominent African American congregation, acquired the property. The period of significance is left open-ended, as Metropolitan AME Zion continues to occupy the building."
